Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional educator to support instructional programs and supervise/supervise special needs students across regular and special education settings. The role implements IEP plans and collaborates with teachers to reinforce goals.

The candidate should have a Georgia PSC paraprofessional certification or equivalent, HS diploma or GED with approved assessments, and ideally experience in licensed child care environments.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED with approved Parapro assessments.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a PSC approved college or university.
• Experience in licensed child care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the instructional program in an assigned classroom, assisting special needs students.
• Adapt activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals and ensure participation.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by health professionals.
• Administer tests, homework and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile students with personal hygiene and daily needs.
• Confer with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Monitor students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform record keeping and data collection to support teachers.
• Provide instruction in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, bus duty).
• Escort students to designated activity areas and perform other duties as assigned.

Education

H.S. Diploma or GED

Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro Assessment

PSC-approved college credits (60 sem/90 qtr hours)
