Qualifikationen

• H.S. Diploma or GED and passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment (prior to March 1, 2007) or the GACE Parapro Assessment Required
• In lieu of assessments, 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a PSC approved college or university are Required
• Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia PSC (Required)

Aufgaben

• Provide support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom with responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in the regular education classroom and special education classroom.
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to reinforce IEP goals and objectives and ensure student participation.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers in the classroom.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Collaborate with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Monitor special education students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Record keeping and support functions for teacher, including data collection and attendance.
• Provide instruction to students in various activities to reinforce instructional objectives and IEP plans.
• Respond to emergencies and manage safety concerns with appropriate training.
• Assist with crisis intervention and incidental duties as assigned.
