Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a paraprofessional educator to support instructional programs and provide care for students with special needs. You will help supervise, carry out IEP plans, and collaborate with teachers in regular and special education classrooms and during activities outside the classroom.

The role includes adapting activities to meet IEP goals, assisting with data collection, and providing daily living support while maintaining a safe, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required with Praxis Parapro assessment (before 2007) or GACE Parapro assessment required
• Alternative: 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college/university
• Experience in licensed child care environment preferred
• Knowledge of child development, MS Office, and communication skills
• Ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in professional settings

Responsibilities

• Provide support to instructional programs in classrooms
• Assist in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students
• Assist in implementing IEP plans and attending IEP meetings
• Adapt activities to reinforce IEP objectives and support participation
• Administer basic first aid and assist with health-related needs
• Record data and assist teachers with tests, assignments, and attendance
• Support daily living skills and grooming for students with disabilities
• Monitor safety and behavior during transitions and non-class time
