Job summary

Poudre School District is seeking a paraprofessional to support the Multi-Categorical program at Preston Middle School. This 3.5-hour daily role provides instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities, enabling access to the general education curriculum.

You will assist teachers with accommodations, monitor progress, and help with IEP implementation, safety, and transitions throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience.
• Experience working with special needs students preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) required within 3 months of hire.
• Special Education Paraprofessional Academy classes (5 in first 2 years of hire).

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted instruction and reinforce learning in small groups.
• Support students in general and special education settings.
• Apply behavior intervention strategies to support social and academic needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, caseworkers, and mental health professionals on IEPs.
• Provide line-of-sight supervision and enforce safety protocols.
• Assist with mobility, personal care, and health-related needs.
• Track student progress, behavior incidents, and interventions.
• Participate in training and school-wide initiatives.
• Adapt to changing student and classroom needs.
• Support high-stakes initiatives and urgent school-wide needs.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

One year of related experience

Experience working with special needs students preferred

Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable

Special Education Paraprofessional Academy classes (5 in first 2 years of hire)
