Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively with students with special needs.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Preference for training in crisis intervention/restraint and related topics.
  • Reports to Building Principal; terms per bargaining unit.

Job Description

JOB GOAL: To work in a substantially separate classroom with students identified with developmental disabilities

  1. Works with elementary students with developmental disabilities and supports in instructional and non-instructional settings.
  2. Reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the classroom teacher.
  3. Reinforce learning of social/emotional strategies introduced by the classroom teacher and school adjustment counselor and/or school psychologist and other related service providers, i.e. Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, etc.
  4. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the student as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
  5. Perform related duties as directed by the building principal.

Job Requirements
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    4. Good communications and interpersonal skills
    5. Preference will be given to people are willing to attend training in crisis intervention/restraint and other topics relative to Special Education
    REPORTS TO Building Principal
    TERMS OF: In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement with the Somerset EMPLOYMENTParaprofessional Bargaining Unit
    SALARY: In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement with the Somerset Paraprofessional Bargaining Unit.
    WORK YEAR: As determined by Somerset Paraprofessional Bargaining Unit
