Independent School District 197 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support instructional activities at Somerset Elementary. The role requires assisting teachers in planning and implementing strategies for students with diverse needs.

You will work closely with staff, families, and students, helping with classroom routines, behavior support, and appropriate supervision during activities and transit. Wage ranges reflect the 2025-2027 paraprofessional contract.

Formación

• Two-year degree or passed the Parapro Assessment.
• PCA training will be provided.
• Ability to work as a team member with staff and parents.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and/or assist with transfers.
• Ability to support students with disabilities and behavioral challenges.

Responsabilidades

• Assisting the teacher in reinforcing skills and strategies.
• Exhibiting intercultural competence to support diverse students.
• Understanding students' needs, interests and abilities.
• Guiding independent study and remedial work set by teachers.
• Assisting with large group activities and field trips.
• Supervising wash-up and toileting routines, including lifting.
• Supervising students to/from the bus and building.
• Carrying out behavior management techniques as directed.
• Completing clerical tasks related to students.
• Other duties as assigned.
