Job summary

Bath Elementary School is seeking a special education paraprofessional to support students with disabilities. You will work with teachers to implement IEPs and behavior plans, provide instructional support, and help students participate fully in school activities.

The role involves collaboration with the special education team, data collection, and adherence to district policies. Training and supervision are provided by the building principal and assigned teachers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or 60 credit hours preferred.
• Successful criminal history check and unprofessional conduct check as required by MCL 380.1230 and 380.1230a.
• Ability to complete and maintain district-required training, including physical management/de-escalation certification, CPR/first aid, and bloodborne pathogens training.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group instructional support aligned with IEPs and lesson plans.
• Implement accommodations and behavior plans and collect student progress data.
• Support student behavior using district-approved intervention techniques and respond to escalation.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment.
• Provide personal care as needed, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene.
• Supervise students in various settings and during off-site instruction as assigned.
• Participate in physical, recreational, and community activities within student programs.
• Prepare classroom materials and assist with routine operations.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records per FERPA and district policy.
• Share observations and data with the teacher and team, participate in IEP meetings.
