Job summary

The position requires 60 college credits or an associate's degree or a passing Kentucky Paraprofessional Test score, and includes duties such as

Qualifications

• Requires at least 60 hours of college credit or an associate's degree or a passing Kentucky Paraprofessional Test score.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with navigating the school building.
• Carry out daily living skills tasks as directed by teachers and coordinators.
• Implement activities described in students' IEP.
• Assist with classroom instructional activities for handicapped students.
• Support physical/occupational therapy activities as indicated.
• Assist with physical education activities under supervision.
• Support community-based instructional activities.
• Provide assistance during therapies when student is out of room.
• Reinforce lessons and provide practice support.
• Attend IEP meetings/parent conferences as needed.
• Be familiar with tornado and fire evacuation procedures.
• Interpret school programs and policies positively to the community.
• Keep designated records as directed by school personnel.
• Perform reasonable non-teaching duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of school records and matters.
• Familiarize with board policies related to the position.
• Follow the school day schedule for the assigned position.
• Become familiar with medical equipment/assistive tech used by students.
• Participate in student behavior management procedures as needed.
• Engage in professional development activities related to this position.
• Serve as a bus monitor for handicapped transport.
