Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Educator in the Special Education program to support instructional staff across regular and special education settings. Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Educator certificate (Georgia PSC) or equivalent preferred
• Requires HS diploma or GED and passing Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro assessments or 60 sem/90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college/university

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals and objectives.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Help students with daily living skills and community accessibility as assigned by the teacher.
• Confer with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Monitor students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform data collection, attendance, and record-keeping to support teachers.
• Provide instruction to students in various activities to reinforce instructional objectives and IEP plans.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Assist with hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, and bus duty supervision as assigned.
