Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Educator to support instructional programs for students with diverse needs in classroom and non-classroom settings. You will assist in implementing IEPs, monitoring behavior, and providing information to school staff.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional certificate issued by the Georgia PSC (PSC Required)
• H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent and passed Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro (required)
• In lieu of assessments, 60 semester or 90 quarter hours PSC approved college or university are required

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom with responsibility for assisting in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to reinforce IEP goals
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as directed by a health care professional
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with daily care
• Confer with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives
• Implement and collect data under supervision of teachers and behavioral plans
• Monitor special education students to provide a safe learning environment
• Perform record keeping and support functions for teachers
• Provide instruction to students in various activities to reinforce instructional objectives
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, bus duty)
• Perform other duties as assigned
