Job summary

Sylvania is hiring a Paraeducator / Teacher Assistant for Special Education to support students in a primary/secondary setting. This full-time role runs 184 days per year at 6.5 hours per day, with a start date ASAP and a 5-day posting period completed first.

The position involves behavior management, progress monitoring, and helping with daily living skills and mobility needs in the classroom, including lifting up to 40 pounds and assisting students as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification must be completed within 30 days of start date.
• Documentation of credits/degree or exam results required.
• Good communication and ability to work with technology.

Responsibilities

• Manage behavior by redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom.
• Monitor and record student progress in academics and daily living skills.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, dressing and transporting students as needed, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
