Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator/Teacher Assistant for Special Education to work full-time in the building. The role supports behavior management, progress monitoring, and daily living skills; it requires lifting and supervising students with special needs.

Starting ASAP with a 5-day posting period, compensation ranges from $20.85 to $26.15 per hour depending on experience and education; additional center-based supplements apply. Insurance benefits are provided for 6+ hours per day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Personal Care Assistant certification must be completed within 30 days of start date.
• 60 semester/90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher) or have passed the ParaEducator or ParaPro exam.
• Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to supervise students and take direction.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
• Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
• Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
