Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator – Special Education at George D. Lisby Elementary School. This full-time, ten-month position supports instructional staff and assists with IEP/IFSP implementation, data collection, and student assessments.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and may accept various education paths (AA or higher, 48 college credits, or approved paraprofessional tests). Lifting up to 40 pounds is required; prior disability experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, plus one of the listed education paths.
• Parapro exam or equivalent MD state testing options may satisfy qualification.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and transfer students up to 40 pounds.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to students during instruction.
• Implements teacher lesson plans with individuals or small groups.
• Works under teacher supervision to provide instruction.
• Assists with data collection, testing, and student assessment.
• Assists with IEP/IFSP implementation for students as placement allows.
• Monitors behavior and implements behavior plans.
• Assists with personal care needs and mobility of students.
• Prepares instructional materials.
• Supports school-wide duties and activities.
• Participates in professional development.
• Supports remote/digital instruction if applicable.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Associate of arts degree or higher

48 college credits with grade C or higher

Parapro exam scores options (455+; reading/writing 332+, math 334+)
