Job summary

New Story Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students ages 5-21 with autism and developmental challenges. You’ll work with teachers to implement academic, behavioral, and daily living goals, under guidance, with patience and encouragement.

You’ll help implement IEPs and behavior plans, assist with transitions and personal care, and record progress data in a safe, structured classroom that fosters growth and independence for each student.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
