Minnetonka Public Schools at Excelsior Elementary in Excelsior, MN seeks a Paraprofessional to support special education students. The position is 4 hours 35 minutes per day, 184 days per year, with a minimum hourly rate of $24.31. Not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities include one-to-one/small group instruction, behavior support, data recording, and collaboration with teachers and families. Training on CPI and confidentiality compliance is provided.

Qualifications

• Must meet highly qualified status as defined by MDE from day 1.
• Evidence of Personal Care Assistant Training certification through MN DHS.
• Experience supporting student instruction in the classroom preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior modification strategies including restitution and resiliency.
• Training/knowledge of CPI strategies preferred.
• Ability to be firm but kind, caring but consistent, patient and vigilant.
• Ability to accept direction from supervising teachers and work as a team.
• Ability to write concise observational data and maintain logs.

Responsabilités

• Support, modify, adjust and monitor individualized instruction in academic areas, functional skills, and/or behavior programs for special education students on a 1:1 or small group basis.
• Assist students with self-care tasks of feeding, dressing, and toileting; lifting may be necessary for repositioning and restraints; perform basic medical procedures under direction.
• Operate special education equipment (wheelchairs, assistive tech) and supervise their safe use.
• Apply student management techniques to prevent or stop self-destructive behaviors.
• Participate in IEP and school conferences and meetings with staff/parents as requested.
• Write observational data, maintain logs, record computerized data, and monitor attendance daily.
• Perform other duties of similar nature or level.
• Will participate in training on third-party reimbursement tasks as needed.
