Job summary
Wake County Public School System is seeking an instructional assistant in Raleigh, North Carolina, to support special education students and their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The role involves assisting teachers, ensuring a safe environment, and working closely with students with disabilities. A high school diploma and progress towards an Associate’s degree or a Child Development Associate credential are required, along with certifications in Crisis Prevention and Intervention. Experience working with special needs students is preferred.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification required.
Responsibilities
Provide support to teachers for special education students' instructional programs.
Assist in implementing students’ behavioral intervention plans.
Maintain a safe and encouraging learning environment.
Support teachers with assistive technology implementation.
Compile necessary reports and maintain confidentiality.
Skills
Working knowledge of successful instructional delivery methods

Education
Associate’s degree in early childhood education related field or Child Development Associate credential
Six documented semester hours in early childhood education or two years of work experience
