Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support teachers, implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and help maintain a safe learning environment in a school setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPI certification, and ability to work with students with diverse needs. You will collaborate with staff, parents, and community partners to promote student success.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps.
• Able to implement instructional strategies and support classroom activities.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and respect student privacy.
• Collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students and understanding IEPs.
• Support behavioral intervention plans and maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials and ensure resources are available.
• Demonstrate professional skills to support student achievement.
• Supervise students and assist with transitions between classes.
• Assist with adaptative equipment and assistive communication devices as needed.
• Complete reports and maintain confidentiality of records.
• Participate in staff development and pursue growth in assignment area.
• Provide health care support as required (hygiene, mobility, etc.).
• Assist with CPI training and renewal processes.
