Job summary

Hart County Schools invites applications for an Instructional Assistant-Special Education. Under supervision, you will support certified staff in the classroom to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer skills for students with diverse needs.

You will work with students individually and in small groups, assist with assessments and record-keeping, support behavior management, supervise non-instructional activities, and participate in IEP processes to maximize student inclusion

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Completion of 48 college hours or college coursework.
Experience with students with special needs desirable.

Responsibilities

Assists students with reading, language arts, mathematics and other skills.
Works with students individually and in small groups.
Assists with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
Supports classroom materials and instructional strategies for individual needs.
Maintains records documenting student learning and performance.
Supports behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
Supervises non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
Assists with parent contact to foster involvement.
Supports students with special needs to maximize inclusion and learning.
