Job summary

Hart County Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Primary to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals and to handle non-professional duties such as proctoring study halls.

Under direct supervision, you will assist with reading, math, language arts, and computer instruction, help with small groups, supervise non-instructional times, participate in IEP processes, and help with materials and parent communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework completed or No Child Left Behind exam completed.
• Experience with special needs students desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reading, language arts, mathematics and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials and reinforce instructional materials to meet student needs.
• Document student learning and progress through record-keeping procedures.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to encourage involvement in education.
• Support students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction and IEP objectives.
