Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs seeks an Instructional Aide to join our Special Education team supporting students in Grades K-12. You will assist with implementing IEPs, provide personalized supervision and guidance in class and community settings, and collaborate with teachers to tailor instruction.

Ideal candidates have patience, empathy, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. Driving may be required in some roles; safety and confidentiality are essential as you help students

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; basic skills tested.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
  • CA driver’s license or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
  • Paraprofessional/teaching assistant credential preferred.
  • Experience with instruction and support in special education or behavioral health settings.
  • Experience with children with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings.
  • Monitor and guide students during lessons with instructional fidelity.
  • Track progress and communicate with teachers on student success and needs.
  • Manage student behavior using school policies and procedures.
  • Support development of essential community, vocational, and social skills.
  • Document student behaviors and performance; provide actionable observations.
  • Prepare behavioral reports and daily activity logs.
  • Communicate with students, families, and staff about needs and progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in accreditation activities and school meetings.
  • Respond to feedback and pursue professional growth.
  • Perform additional responsibilities to support student success.
