Job summary

Coosa County Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to assist teachers in delivering instruction to students. The role involves supporting classroom activities, checking student work, preparing instructional aids, and supervising students during lunch and various activities.

The paraprofessional will follow IEP and behavior plans, maintain professional relationships with staff and students, and participate in mandated staff development.

Qualifications

• Two years college training or Work Keys certification is required/desired.
• Basic computer skills desirable.
• Cleared background check through FBI and ABI processes is required.

Responsibilities

• Regular and punctual attendance; follow district sick leave and personal leave policies.
• Perform academic, therapeutic, and/or recreational tasks under the supervision of a certified teacher.
• Assist teacher by checking student notebooks, computer work, and daily assignments.
• Assist with preparation of instructional aids, bulletin boards, and other learning displays.
• Assist with non-instructional classroom duties such as snacks, breaks, feeding, and personal hygiene/clothing needs.
• Escort and supervise students during lunch, assemblies, PE, bus, field trips, and testing.
• Participate in staff development activities and paraprofessional training as mandated.
• Follow and implement IEP and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public.
• Respect confidentiality of information related to students and staff.
• Assume other duties as assigned by supervisor.
