Job summary

Ridge Road Middle in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant for the 26-27 school year. Under general supervision, you will assist the EC teacher, support students with IEP goals, and help provide access to general education as needed.

This full-time, 9-month position involves instructional support, classroom supervision, and data collection to monitor progress. Minimum education requirements and a commitment to supporting diverse learners are required.

Qualifications

• Formal education or certifications aligned with EC support work.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students with disabilities and assist with IEP goals.
• Ability to follow teachers' instructional plans and provide small-group support.

Responsibilities

• Assist EC students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms and common areas.
• Support teachers in implementing IEP goals and accommodations.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials and learning spaces.
• Participate in daily transportation duties as needed.
• Document student progress and assist with data collection.

Education

Associate's degree

Two years of higher education credits

Pass WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training

Completion of the NC Department of Labor Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program
