Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, NC seeks an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant to support a SBS classroom (26-27). Under general supervision, you assist the EC teacher, help students progress toward IEP goals, and provide access to general education.

The role requires coordinating with teachers, supervising students, preparing materials, assisting with transportation duties, and participating in professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 credit hours required
• WorkKeys assessment and 96 hours in-service training may be required
• Completion of NC DOL Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist EC students individually or in groups to reinforce learning
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and gymnasiums
• Support teachers and implement IEP goals
• Prepare lesson materials and assist with portfolios and testing
• Assist with attendance procedures and classroom organization
• Provide physical assistance as needed to students and during routines
