Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant to support EC students under supervision. The role assists with IEP goals, reinforces general education access, and follows Board policies under a principal’s direction.

The position is a full-time, 9-month assignment with responsibilities across classrooms, bus/transport duties, and daily instructional support to optimize student outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least one of: Associate degree / 48 credit hours or higher education equivalent.
• Pass WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training.
• Completion of NC Dept. of Labor TA Apprenticeship Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.
• Support teachers with instructional planning and materials preparation.
• Collect data to document student progress toward IEP goals.
• Provide physical assistance to students as needed and assist with routines.
