Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher Assistant to support the assigned teacher and EC students under supervision. The role guides students toward IEP goals and provides access to general education as needed.

The EC assistant helps with instructional delivery, safety, data collection, and daily classroom operations in a school setting, coordinating with staff and adhering to Board of Education policies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IEP processes, classroom management, and differentiation strategies.
• Ability to implement instruction under teacher direction.
• Familiarity with confidentiality and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, and on campus.
• Coordinate with the classroom teacher to support instructional efforts.
• Provide physical assistance as needed to students.
• Collect data to document student progress toward IEP goals.
• Prepare instructional materials and manage classroom spaces.
• Participate in school activities and meetings.
