Job summary

Chicago Public Schools on the North/Northwest Side seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed Special Education teacher.

Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, personal hygiene support, assisting with daily living skills, feeding, documentation, and field trips, while maintaining classroom records. A valid paraprofessional license or 60 college credits is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE (60 college credits or paraprofessional exam).
• Knowledge of students with various disabilities and basic English/Math skills.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities per IEP.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal care support.
• Assist with daily living skills and feeding as needed.
• Accompany students on class field trips and keep notes of behavior.
