Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under a teacher’s supervision. The role emphasizes one-on-one tutoring, aid in daily living skills, and assistance with behavioral recording.

Applicants should hold a valid Illinois ISBE paraprofessional license or equivalent, with at least 60 college credits. CPR training is desirable and may be completed on the job as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or have completed the paraprofessional program requirements (60 college credits or equivalent).
• Knowledge of students with various disabilities and ability to support learning and behavior.
• CPR training is desirable; if not already certified, CPR training will be arranged as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructional activities for students with disabilities under the supervision of a special education teacher.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and reinforce learning concepts per IEPs.
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care as required by students.
• accompany students on class trips and help maintain records of behavior and progress.
