Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students at the middle school level within the resource service pathway. The role involves supervising, caring for, and instructing special needs students in various classroom settings and implementing individualized education plans under teacher supervision.

The position requires collaboration with Special Education and mainstream teachers, attendance at IEP meetings, and ensuring a safe and supportive learning

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; one of several approved paths.
• Valid State of Washington Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and instructing special needs students in regular or self-contained classrooms.
• Assist in implementing instructional plans and monitoring student behavior.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate with teachers and parents as needed.
• Administer first aid and provide basic medical assistance when required.
• Maintain student records and adapt instructional materials as directed.
• Ensure a safe and positive learning environment by supervising students during transitions and non-classroom times.
