Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Instructional Assistant to monitor, assist, and support students with special needs in implementing IEP goals. Duties include assisting with personal care as needed and following safety protocols under a teacher's direction.

Responsibilities cover materials preparation, progress documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student success and inclusive classroom participation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 48 college credits or AA/ParaPro required for Title One Schools.
• Clear, concise oral and written communication.
• MS Office and Google Drive proficiency.
• Capable of performing essential functions with or without accommodations.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Support students under the direction of a Certificated FCPS staff.
• Communicate and document student progress.
• Set up and adapt materials, equipment, and assistive devices for student use.
• Assist students toward independence and participate in IEP goals.
• Attend IEP and staff meetings as directed; provide classroom coverage.
