Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant to support students with disabilities in a middle school setting. You will assist teachers, help implement individual education plans, and promote independence and social inclusion across daily activities.

Responsibilities include monitoring behavior, recording progress, and communicating with families while maintaining confidentiality and following district guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of paid experience working with children.
• Passing score on ParaPro Assessment (460) or equivalent may be required.
• Ability to support students with disabilities and implement individualized activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students with disabilities and assist in implementing individualized lessons.
• Promote inclusion, independence, and social skills within the learning environment.
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior; maintain records.
• Support staff in facilitating instruction and routines; communicate with families.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies and procedures.
