Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Assistant (1:1) for Olson Middle to support students with disabilities. The role focuses on implementing individualized activities, promoting independence, and ensuring inclusive classroom participation.

Responsibilities include behavior support, progress monitoring, and collaboration with staff to meet each student’s therapy and education goals. Ability to translate plans into daily classroom actions is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter college credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences, or related area.
• ParaPro assessment with a minimum score of 460 or higher.
• Two years of paid experience working with children; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students with disabilities in a learning environment.
• Assist in developing and implementing individualized lesson plans.
• Promote independence, inclusion, and self-advocacy skills.
• Monitor student activities and maintain progress records.
• Assist with behavior support plans and data collection.
