Job summary

SL-SPECIAL EDUCATION - St. Louis Park, MN is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support students with special needs under a special education teacher.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, providing one-on-one instruction, and assisting with daily living activities to foster an inclusive classroom environment. The role involves monitoring progress, adapting materials, and collaborating with teachers and therapists to meet diverse student needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in special education or child development preferred.
• Two years of college credits or higher required.
• Experience with students with special needs preferred.
• Completion of first aid/CPR training preferred.
• CPI certification provided by district.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support students during classroom activities and transitions.
• Assist with implementing IEPs and individualized instruction.
• Provide one-on-one or small group academic support.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility needs.
• Record observations and report progress to teachers and parents.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and staff to support student development.

Education

Two years of college credits

Associate's Degree or higher

Passing Score on approved formal academic assessment

Experience with children with special needs

First aid / CPR training preferred

CPI certification will be provided
