Job summary

South St Paul Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking a Special Education Assistant to provide direct support to students with disabilities. You will assist with daily living tasks, help implement instructional plans, and help maintain a safe, structured classroom aligned with IEPs.

Duties include supervision during arrival/dismissal, assisting with behavior support, delivering instructional modifications, and recording progress data for progress reports.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of data privacy rules and regulations related to student information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with staff and families.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to implement instructional/supportive tasks per IEPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist during arrival/dismissal, including supervision on transportation as required by IEPs.
• Support with daily living activities and behavior interventions as directed by case managers.
• Monitor behavior and implement appropriate strategies to address concerns.
• Assist in delivering instruction and modifications as directed by special education staff.
• Record data and document progress toward academic/behavioral goals.
