Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, Arizona seeks an Interpreter II for Specialized Student Services to provide interpreting and transliterating services for hearing impaired students.

You will collaborate with the student’s case manager and regular classroom teachers to determine the best interpreting method for each lesson, support students in mainstream classes, coordinate tutoring, and serve as a liaison to families.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 60+ college credits required at time of hire or ability to pass ParaPro Test
• Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
• EIPA 3.5–3.9 or NAD 3 standards
• RID CI/CT certificate required (Interpreting/Transliteration)
• ASL or Oral interpreting proficiency

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and transliterating services for assigned hearing impaired student
• Coordinate with the student’s case manager and regular teachers on interpreting needs
• Assist in determining the best interpreting method for main stream classes
• Assist in classroom routines and clarify concepts for students
• Refer questions to the case manager and support student attendance and participation
• Continue professional growth as an educational interpreter
