Job summary

Dysart Unified School District District Wide, Surprise, AZ is seeking a 26/27 SY Classified Substitute (Interpreter Hearing Impaired) to provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This is a temporary, non-benefited position starting immediately and reporting to the ESS/Principal.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an Interpreter Training Program.
  • At least one year of instructional interpretation in a school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational and classroom interpreting for deaf/hearing-impaired students.
  • Use sign language and spoken-to-sign translation as needed.
  • Prepare subject matter vocabulary for classes.
  • Research information for assemblies, concerts, field trips.
  • Utilize captioning and assistive listening devices to aid understanding.
  • Coordinate with staff providing services to students.
  • Maintain rapport with students, staff, and vendors.
  • Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
