Job summary

Tempe School District No.3 Sanchez - Student Support in Tempe, AZ, seeks a Translator/Interpreter - Signing to facilitate communication between deaf and hard of hearing students and teachers across classrooms and assemblies.

The role requires ASL or SEE proficiency, relevant certificates or EIPA scores, AZ IVP fingerprint clearance, and CPR/First Aid readiness. 189-day work year with a base hourly salary.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience to a High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in interpreting skills via EIPA, CI/CT from RID, or NAD level 3+.
• AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card.
• Three years of experience with children (preferred).
• Ability to obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Interpret classroom instruction for deaf and hard of hearing student.
• Accompany student to all classes and activities including assemblies and programs.
• Convey lessons accurately and concisely.
• Tutor student on assignments as needed.
• Prepare vocabulary for lessons ensuring correct signing.
• Find definitions to interpret correctly.
• Review subject material with student and teacher.
• Inform teacher of student’s progress and behavior.
