Job summary

Anchorage School District seeks a Secondary Special Programs Paraprofessional Educator to support students under a special education teacher’s guidance. The role includes classroom assistance and community-based activities aligned with IEP goals.

Strong literacy, communication, and confidentiality are essential. Experience with IEPs, behavior plans, and de-escalation techniques is valued, with Alaska paraprofessional credentials required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or current enrollment in a GED program.
• Meet Alaska paraprofessional requirements: 48 college credits, ETS Paraprofessional, WorkKeys, or ASD Master Teacher training.
• Basic literacy in reading, writing, and math.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster professional relationships with staff, parents, students, admins, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Provides special education services and support under supervision of a special education teacher.
• Prepares or modifies instructional materials including assistive technology for student use.
• Collects data in accordance with IEP goals as directed by certified staff.
• Collaborates with colleagues and staff.
• Follows instructions and implements teacher-directed programs and strategies.
