Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to support students with diverse needs under the supervision of classroom teachers and administrators. The role includes implementing instructional plans, assisting with daily routines, and promoting positive social skills across grade levels.

The position requires collaboration with the education team, adherence to behavior intervention plans, and commitment to student safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• One year of paid or volunteer experience with multi-age groups of children.
• Equivalent to completing the twelfth grade, with training or coursework in child growth and development or instructional tech.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Fingerprinting and clearance for employment by state authorities.
• Completion of state-required paraeducator certifications.
• Right Response(de-escalation) training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to implement curriculum and assess student progress.
• Support students with a wide range of abilities and behavioral needs.
• Meet with students daily or in groups to develop academic, social, or life skills per plan.
• Assist with daily activities (e.g., eating, dressing, toileting) and health-related tasks as needed.
• Teach independent living skills such as cooking, laundry, and personal hygiene.
• Provide positive reinforcement and help develop student self-esteem and responsibility.
• Record progress and communicate results to supervising staff.
• Follow district protocols to de-escalate situations and ensure student safety.
