Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator for Special Education to assist in instruction across various settings and to support students with disabilities. The role emphasizes behavior management, progress monitoring, and maintaining essential student records.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, a Personal Care Assistant certification within 30 days, and 60 credits/associate degree or ParaEducator/ParaPro exam. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Personal Care Assistant certification required within 30 days of start date.
60 credits / associate degree or higher or ParaEducator or ParaPro exam.
Good communication, interpersonal and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work with technology and computers.
Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
Ability to supervise students.
Ability to take direction.
Ability to maintain regular attendance, including completing an assigned day.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
Manage behavior by redirecting or removing disruptive students.
Monitor and record student progress in academics, daily living skills, social skills, etc.
Assist with physical needs including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, and wheelchair transportation.
