Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with a range of disabilities under a licensed teacher. Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, personal care assistance, and helping maintain student records.

The role requires certification or equivalent college credits and CPR training is highly desirable. The position entails physical standing and lifting as part of daily routines within school settings and classrooms.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE, or have completed 60 college credits with paraprofessional certification.
• CPR training certification is highly desirable and may be required.
• Ability to work with students with various disabilities and to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under supervision of a certified teacher and IEP goals.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed by students with severe disabilities.
• Assist in maintaining records of student behavior and support classroom activities and field trips.
