Job summary

UC San Diego Health in Hillcrest seeks an experienced SPD Supervisor to oversee sterile processing staff, ensure timely tray readiness for OR cases, and coordinate with OR teams. You will supervise, train, and schedule an SPD crew while driving quality, efficiency, and ongoing process improvements in a six-floor hospital environment.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive SPD experience, and the ability to manage competing priorities, with preferred CRCST certification.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years SPD experience, or a Bachelor’s in business/healthcare admin plus three years SPD experience.
• Proven ability to supervise staff, assign work, manage complex workflows and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and schedules the daily activities of central sterile staff, overseeing quality and productivity.
• Trains subordinates on sterile processing procedures with daily guidance.
• Develops unit schedules to meet supply and service needs; advises on process improvements.
• Oversees central sterile supply inventory and routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Identifies and troubleshoots equipment performance issues and determines service needs.
• Contributes to departmental processes and decision-making on hiring, promotions, and discipline.
