Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary seeks an interpreter to support patient and family communication in multiple languages. You will perform sight and written translations of materials, coordinate interpreters, and document encounters in the medical setting, ensuring ethical standards are followed and patient confidentiality is maintained.

The role includes assisting with appointment reminders and navigating hospital services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare interpreting experience 2-3 years preferred.
• Experience in medical interpretation and coordinating interpreters is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a mediator to enhance communication between staff and patients/families.
• Keep accurate documentation of interpretation encounters and data.
• Coordinate and train staff on telephone interpretation services.
• Answer calls promptly and conduct interpretation professionally.
• Assist with appointment reminders and scheduling interpreters as needed.
