Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston is seeking a Medical Interpreter to facilitate clear communication for patients and families across languages. You will provide interpretation, sight and written translation of materials, and support patient education and discharge planning in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Requirements include a Medical Interpreter Certificate, 2–3 years healthcare interpreting experience, and a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Provide interpretation services for patients and families in multiple languages.
• Maintain accurate documentation of interpretation encounters and scheduling.
• Coordinate with interpreters and staff to meet language access needs.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medical information between patients, families, and staff in person or by phone.
• Assist with appointment reminders and coordination of interpreter assignments.
• Help LEP patients navigate the hospital and connect with social services.
• Record encounter details (location, duration, purpose) for compliance.
• Participate in on call coverage for emergencies as needed.
