Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Frederica, DE seeks a Design for Manufacturing Engineer to support EVA/IVA spacesuit assembly, testing and pre‑ship evaluation. You will work under moderate supervision across design, manufacturing, quality, test, and supply chain to enable a robust product lifecycle with hands‑on exposure to manufacturing, assembly, verification, and sustainment activities.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Chemical, Textile, Materials or related field.
• 0–5 years in design, manufacturing, integration, testing, production, or sustainment; internships may count.
• Foundational understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and testing methods.
• Proficiency in engineering software and CAD-based 3D modeling; GD&T knowledge preferred.
• Willingness to travel to local worksites, suppliers, and test facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for EVA/IVA spacesuit manufacturing operations to maintain OTIF delivery.
• Collect, analyze, and document test data for verification, validation and acceptance activities.
• Disposition nonconforming hardware per requirements and quality standards.
• Drive manufacturing efficiency and product quality through process improvements and tooling updates.
• Collaborate with design teams to apply Design for Manufacturability principles.
• Lead root cause analyses and CAPA initiatives to improve reliability and production performance.
• Develop and maintain configuration-controlled engineering documentation and procedures.
• Support refurbishment, maintenance, sustainment, qualification, and production of EVA/spacewear hardware.
