Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Design for Manufacturing Engineer to support EVA/IVA spacesuit assembly, integration, testing, and qualification. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full product lifecycle in aerospace engineering, with collaboration across design, manufacturing, quality, and program teams for manufacturability improvements.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related engineering field.
• 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD-based 3D modeling and reading engineering drawings.
• Experience with fabrication, assembly, testing, or production operations.
• Willingness to travel to local worksites and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for EVA/IVA spacesuit manufacturing operations to maintain OTIF delivery objectives.
• Collect, analyze, and document test data for product verification and qualification.
• Evaluate nonconforming hardware in compliance with requirements and quality standards.
• Drive manufacturing efficiency and product quality through process improvements and tooling upgrades.
• Collaborate with design teams to incorporate DFM principles into new products.
• Lead failure investigations and CAPA initiatives to improve reliability and manufacturing performance.
• Maintain configuration-controlled engineering documentation and product records.
• Support refurbishment, maintenance, and production implementation for EVA spacesuit hardware.
• Lead material replacement and risk reduction initiatives addressing quality and safety concerns.
• Support capital equipment investments and continuous improvement initiatives.
