Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Software-agnostic Thermal Engineer in Merritt Island, FL to define and decompose vehicle thermal requirements and own subsystem documents. You will work with hardware teams to ensure thermal compatibility across electrical, fluids, and gas subsystems, and participate in SRR/PDR/CDR reviews.

The role requires 3+ years in thermal/space hardware, strong analysis skills, and experience with DOORS/Jama/MATLAB/Cameo/Thermal Desktop. Travel up to 20% and relocation are supported.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering.
• 3+ years of related experience in thermal/space hardware.
• Knowledge of systems engineering best practices and integration.
• Experience with flight integration and environmental qualification.
• Understanding of subsystems’ thermal implications across the mission.
• Background in active thermal control hardware or thermal analysis.
• Experience with spacecraft thermal control hardware design.
• Ability to perform simple thermal assessments via first principles.
• Experience with DOORS, Jama, MATLAB, Cameo, Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with interface control and requirements relaxation.

Responsibilities

• Define and decompose vehicle thermal requirements into actionable specs.
• Develop and maintain interface control documents for subsystems.
• Own heat transfer component artifacts and safety products.
• Conduct trade studies and make buy/decide hardware selections.
• Plan verification and validation, including environmental tests and simulations.
• Participate in hardware design reviews and ensure compliance.
• Support integration, test, and launch operations with the hardware team.
• Assist schedule management and vendor coordination for hardware.
• Identify process improvements and foster cross-functional collaboration.
• Align component data with Vehicle and interfacing subsystems.
