Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a hardware engineer specializing in thermal control for the Lunar Permanence line. You will decompose requirements, develop ICDs, and own critical heat transfer artifacts to ensure mission-ready hardware.

You will participate in reviews, support testing and launch operations, and collaborate across electrical, propellant, and GNC teams. Travel up to 20% is expected; relocation is provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering best practices, integration processes, design for manufacturing, and quality control.
  • Demonstrated experience in requirement analysis, interface definition, and verification & validation.
  • Experience with flight integration and environmental qualification (thermal, vibration, etc.).
  • Understanding of subsystems and their thermal implications across the mission lifecycle.
  • Background in active thermal control hardware or thermal analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with spacecraft thermal control hardware design and development.

Responsibilities

  • Define and decompose vehicle thermal and other subsystem requirements into specifications.
  • Develop and maintain ICDs with vehicle subsystems for compatibility and integration fidelity.
  • Own heat transfer component artifacts including specs and safety products.
  • Conduct trade studies and make/buy decisions for hardware selection or optimization.
  • Drive verification and validation planning including environmental testing and mission simulations.
  • Participate in hardware design reviews and ensure artifact quality and compliance.
  • Support integration, test, and launch operations with hardware design team.
  • Assist with schedule management, procurement, and vendor management.
  • Identify process improvements and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Align component analysis data with vehicle and interfacing subsystems.
