Job summary

Cimarron Software Services, Inc. is seeking a Materials & Processes Principal Engineer to join the Houston team onsite. The role focuses on advising on M&P for IVA/EVA environments, performing trade studies, and guiding material selections for spaceflight hardware.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years of materials engineering experience, knowledge of NASA standards, and strong metallurgy expertise. This position requires onsite work in Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizens or permanent residents only.
• Willing to work evenings and weekends to meet milestones.
• 15+ years of experience in material & process engineering.
• Knowledge of NASA standards and material data requirements for spaceflight hardware.
• Direct work experience in metallurgy (heat treatment, corrosion control, AM, welding, failure analysis).
• B.S. in Engineering, Math, or Materials Science.

Responsibilities

• Advise on Materials & Processes requirements for IVA and EVA environments, including materials selection, process control, and qualification.
• Perform trade studies and make/buy recommendations.
• Lead M&P efforts for additive manufacturing with material and process specs and supplier qualifications.
• Review project documentation to ensure NASA standards for spaceflight hardware are met.
• Assess vendor processes for M&P compliance and define necessary changes.
• Provide inspection and manufacturing process support for space hardware.
• Communicate project progress and issues to stakeholders and leadership.
