Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a resilient Specialist Materials & Process Engineer to advise on M&P requirements for IVA and EVA environments, selecting and certifying spaceflight hardware, and ensuring compliance through testing and documentation reviews.

The role requires expertise in metallic and nonmetallic materials, preparing technical reports, and producing M&P certifications and test plans while interacting with internal and external customers in a collaborative, agile project environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s degree in the same fields.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Ability to problem-solve and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Advise on Materials & Processes program requirements for IVA/EVA environments.
• Perform materials selection and certification of spaceflight hardware (flammability, corrosion, outgassing).
• Define testing and certification requirements and evaluate results for project compliance.
• Review project drawings and vendor documentation to ensure M&P requirements are met.
• Write M&P documentation such as certifications and test plans.
