Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking a qualified Structural Analysis Engineer to join the In-Space Systems team. You will perform FEA and hand calculations to verify orbital vehicle structures, collaborate with design engineers to optimize weight and strength, and document analyses for release of drawings and technical reports.

The role requires a BS in engineering and 3+ years in vehicle structures analysis, with experience in ABAQUS or HyperWorks and knowledge of classical strength methods. U.S.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil).
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle structures or mechanisms analysis.
  • Familiarity with classical strength analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Shigley).
  • Experience with FEM packages (ABAQUS or HyperWorks).

Responsibilities

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations for strength checks of orbital vehicle structures and mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structural designs for weight, strength, and manufacturability.
  • Document structural analysis to support release of engineering drawings and formal documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance on design concepts, balancing risk, cost, and performance.
  • Maintain and report activity schedule, budget, and technical status.
  • Support other teams with inputs for configuration development and trade studies.
